“Last year concurrent with the birthday anniversary of Hazrat Ma’sumeh (A.S.) and the Eighth Imam (A.S.), the first conference of Goharshad World Award was held with contribution of Astan Quds Razavi where eight benevolent and literate ladies were introduced.”
“The goal of this award is propagation of benevolence culture among Muslim women and other monotheistic religions; Goharshad Mosque is the symbol of a benevolent and wise lady named Goharshad Agha, Shahrokh Teimuri’s wife, who endowing many properties in Iran and Herat, has won fame as servant of Imam Reza (A.S.) in the field of endowment and benevolence”, he remarked.

“In line with article four of the decree of the Supreme Leader to the respected Custodian of Astan Quds Razavi, and to set cultural pace regarding the charity, the plan for holding the festival and granting Goharshad International Award has been developed” Dr. Sarwari Majd, head of the Secretariat of the Goharshad International Award said, in explaining the reasons for holding the festival.

“The purpose of this award, is praising the wise and philanthropist ladies all around the world under the name of Hazrat Samen al-Hujaj (A.S.), which of course is the reminiscence of one of the servants of His Holiness (A.S.), i.e. Goharshad, every year to eight benevolent ladies who at home and abroad had significant achievements will be awarded” Dr. Sarwari Majd reiterated.

“In order to promote charity culture, it has been decided to form a permanent Secretariat of the Goharshad International Award, and a constitution to be drafted and approved” Sarwari Majd uttered.
Following the meeting, Dr. Rajabi Dawani, while welcoming the dedication of this award to the benevolent ladies said, “The name of countless charitable and benevolent ladies is located in the pages of history who are obscure, and this award is an opportunity to recognize these outstanding historical figures and introducing their constructive and valuable services.”
“Lady Goharshad, is an example of benevolent women, who step on the path to promote religion and Shi’ite views, and Goharshad Mosque in the Holy Shrine of Imam Reza (A.S.) is a symbol of this pious woman’s benevolence and her devotion to Infallible Imams (A.S.)” the history researchers said.

Dr. Badkoobehi, one of the other professors present at this meeting appreciating the act of Astan Quds Razavi to devote this award said, “Granting this award is an opportunity to recognize charitable ideas and the transcended movements of philanthropists.”
